Director Doug Liman is known for his knack for quickly bringing films to life, and with The Instigators, he’s set to release his second film of 2024. Earlier this year, he tackled the remake of Road House, which unfortunately didn’t quite capture the rugged charm of the original 1989 classic. Similarly, The Instigators aims to blend action with humor, as screenwriters Casey Affleck and Chuck MacLean try to infuse the narrative with emotional depth. However, the film struggles to keep a steady tone and humor, leading to a disjointed viewing experience. Despite the cast and crew's efforts to create an exciting story filled with vibrant characters and tension from the criminal world, Liman’s apparent lack of enthusiasm for the project results in a rather disappointing film.
