Axel Foley's disruptive behaviour worries Chief Jeffrey, who is almost at retirement age, as he continues to be committed to his work as a Detroit police officer. When Foley finds out that his friend Rosewood has vanished, he makes the decision to go back to Beverly Hills and begin an investigation. There, he is involved in the case of a young guy who was falsely charged with the death of a police officer. As Jane, the legal daughter of Foley, attempts to defend the suspect, she is taken aback by her father's unexpected return to her life. To Captain Grant's annoyance, as Foley investigates the matter, he includes Jane in his search for information and his tendency to provoke people.
