Desmond John Humphrys (born 17 August 1943) is a Welsh broadcaster who has hosted Mastermind since 2003. He joined the BBC in 1966, and by 1981 was the main producer of the Nine O’Clock news. 

He has written books on English language and religion, as well as a 2019 memoir in which he accused the BBC of having a liberal bias. He broadcasts on Classic FM, and writes a weekly column in the Daily Mail.

Humphreys has been accused of sexism and harassment on numerous occasions. He has also been criticised for comments on domestic terrorists, and accused of xenophobia. He has further made comments about the transgender community.
