First broadcast on December 21st 2018, Episode 1 of the 2018/19 season of Celebrity Mastermind featured BBC media editor Amol Rajan, Reverend Richard Coles, drag performer Courtney Act, and TV gardener Mark Lane.

The celebrities’ charities of choice were The Felix Project (Rajan); Parkinson’s UK (Cole); Kaleidoscope International Trust (Act); and Leonard Cheshire (Lane).

Their specialist subjects were Shane Warne (Rajan); The Operas of Richard Wagner (Cole); the Spice Girls (Act); and The life and work of Piet Mondrian (Lane).

In the general knowledge round, Rajan was first to play and scored 10. Coles followed with a score of 11, then Act and Lane with scores of 7 and 9 respectively.

This meant that Coles was the winner, with Rajan in second and Lane and Act tied for third.
