Students will play an interactive game called “I Spy.” In this game, the teacher will show flashcards depicting different types of families and the number of members in each family. The students will have the opportunity to actively participate by identifying and discussing the type of family shown on the flashcards and counting the number of family members.
Students will play a “Hopscotch Game.” The game will feature three types of families, each represented in a separate box. The students will take turns rolling a die and then jump into the boxes based on the number they rolled. Once a student lands on a particular box, they will share something about the type of family depicted in that box. This can include stating the number of people in that family, whether it represents their own family type, and discussing the importance of that family structure.
